I think the most wonderful part of the story is Judy’s wedding. I can almost see Mrs. Miniver’s happiness just by looking at her. And then Clem held her hand. They’re really perfect together!

And of course, I hated when Kay was telling Clem about her sickness. It broke my heart completely!

I can’t say much about it. It’s nothing compared to Mrs. Miniver, the original film, but it’s worth the watch!

"You're Adorable" ~ Major Augustus Parkington

I’ve just seen it tonight. Oh I think it’s delightful, as far as Garson-Pidgeon films go.

I’ve never seen Walter get so mad in a picture before, I mean REALLY mad! I’ve always seen him in their team-ups as the supporting husband, much to Greer’s supporting wife roles. He is to me the one supporting, not the one being supported. But here, he’s just too — strong and temperamental. It’s a good thing Greer was his wife or else he would have smashed every dish in his humongous house!

But Greer was wonderful in this movie although I was rather taken aback when she forced herself to speak “suthern” when apparently she sounds so elegantly English. She was so tough and very lovely. And Agnes Moorehead, OH! It’s just magic when I heard her in her French accent. She has done her role well and played it like no other.

And I remember one particular scene with Major Parkington, Susie, Aspasia, the prince and Lady Norah. If I would recall it correctly, it all started with the Billard scene? And they were talking about how great it is for Gus to be in his position and that fox hunting is his new trend because Lady Norah “inspired” him to do so. But then again Susie would glare at her somehow and then say things that made Gus nervous, nervous enough to make him drink GINGER BEER!!! I was laughing so hard in this scene that I wasn’t aware of the next scene. I was just glad that the prince took the burden (and I mean Lady Norah) with him and winked at Susie. It’s divine!

I’ll be viewing it again tomorrow. I just know I’ll love it even more!!!

Blossoms in the Dust is a story of a woman, Edna Gladney, who was married to Sam Gladney, and started a day care center in Texas. This was her resolution for losing her son, the only child she could have. Through taking care of children, she could also be a mother. One day, she witnesses orphans being adopted in a courtroom and has the word “illegitimate” written in their papers. Edna was furious and wanted to fight against using the word for foundlings. Could she ever win this battle? Or would she sacrifice everything else so that her prophecy would be fulfilled?

I am so surprised to have seen this on youtube. It’s the best thing I’ve ever seen so far. It’s both exciting, lovely, fun-filled, tear-jerking, wonderful in all accounts! I want it on DVD, to be sold separately. I want it to be featured on TCM, too! In short, I WANT TO SEE IT ALL THE TIME!

The scientific team

Okay, so I guess there were just too many Garson-Pidgeon team ups to choose from, but why did I choose Madame Curie as a subject? There’s one answer: Science!

Apart from being a biographical movie, Madame Curie showcased us on so many Chemistry principles that any Science, or Chemistry geeks would enjoy! And it’s not always boring, because there’s a so-called ‘proposal’ that Pierre gives to Marie, which was always so wonderful!

What struck me in the end was the way Pierre’s life was cut short. He was hit by a carriage and lost his life. Isn’t that just too sad? And Marie was so devastated that she refused to talk to anybody, including her father-in-law.

But alas, right before this scene, they discover Radium. It was I believe one of the most significant discoveries in the history of Chemistry and Physics. Radium is not just any other element in the Periodic Table. It’s small quantity can give out such a high amount of energy, that it could already heal certain diseases! But too much exposure to it could harm us. It is in my opinion that anything discovered and labeled great can harm anybody at anytime.

I wouldn’t say it was a great movie, a must-see for everybody, because it may sound bias in my opinion. But the thing is Madame Curie has thought me so many things I didn’t care about before. Love for profession, for example. It is evident that Marie and Pierre loved their work, and that they’d do anything to have things done, even if it took them forever to finish the whole thing! I’ve never seen sincerity at its best.

And then there’s love. A kind of love not even I could describe, but love in the eyes of two lovers working together to meet a common goal. I believe that their love for each other is truly a classic one, and It’s wonderful to find out that they’d end up together. It’s a blessing in disguise, honestly!

There’s more to say about Madame Curie-The Movie. I guess it would take me so much time and effort to write all the details!
